Lent 2024 People of the Passion
Lent 2024 People of the Passion
Please join us each Thursday evening this Lent, beginning on February 15 and culminating on March 21, 2024, via Zoom for a series of reflection and prayer experiences presented online by the Los Angeles Retreat Center Community (LARCC). Each of our six weekly Lenten spiritual journey presentations will focus on the book People of the Passion. Drawing from the book, as well as the four Gospel accounts of the suffering and death of Jesus, we will experience the passion from the perspective of selected characters who participated – or were affected – in some dramatic way by their encounter with Jesus during that time. Some characters may be well known and involved throughout the passion; others may be lesser known and involved only for a short interval. Nevertheless, suffering and distress seem to bring out the best and the worst in human nature – with crisis responses including courage, trust, generosity, weakness, greed, and despair.
The Mandorla ~ Art & Meditation
The Mandorla ~ Art & Meditation
This creative workshop will explore the mandorla as a means of meditation and art-making. A mandorla is an element of Sacred Geometry like a mandala but is constructed of not one, but two overlapping circles. The mandorla has been used to depict sacred moments that transcend time and space throughout history. This workshop will focus on discovering creative ways to recognize and balance the body, spirit and mind through prayer, meditation, art-making and group sharing. All materials, handouts and supplies will be provided. You are invited to bring your own art material if you wish. No previous art experience is required.
Forgiveness of Others
Forgiveness of Others
*Remote Via Zoom* Fred Luskin, PhD and Herb K. share their separate knowledge and experience of Secular and Spiritual ingredients! Bill Wilson (cofounder of AA) discusses forgiveness - he calls it “letting go of resentment”. It’s not done to please others, but in the interest of our FREEDOM. This workshop is on how to FORGIVE and will focus on a process of releasing them … and … being released ourselves. This will be a practical WORK-shop. Bring your questions, prepare to confront your unwillingness and to respond to your willingness. Together we’ll share our experience and dialogue about being delivered to FREEDOM.
