Labyrinth Bonaventure
A Sacred Path of Reflection
Since its opening in 2015, the Labyrinth Bonaventure at Mary & Joseph Retreat Center has welcomed thousands of guests seeking quiet reflection, healing, and connection—whether walking alone or in community. Nestled in a serene outdoor setting, this sacred space invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and take a step inward. Come walk with us.
A Path of Prayer
For nearly 4,000 years, labyrinths have served as a sacred symbol across cultures and traditions. Ours is no different—designed to guide you through a moving prayer experience.
Walking the labyrinth is more than a physical journey—it’s a spiritual practice.
The gentle turns of the path quiet the mind and open the heart. As your feet move forward, your thoughts settle. You may enter with a question, intention, or emotion—and leave with peace, clarity, or direction.
The journey mirrors the rhythm of life:
-
The path inward: Letting go and centering
-
The time at the center: Receiving, listening, and being still
-
The path outward: Returning renewed, with deeper insight or grace
No matter how winding the way, the labyrinth reminds us to trust the path. It always leads us to where we’re meant to be.
11-Circuit Labyrinth
Our labyrinth is a classic 11-circuit Chartres design, modeled after the renowned labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral in France. It offers a single, winding path leading to the center and back out again—representing a spiritual pilgrimage and the journey of life itself.
Surrounded by nature and tucked into a peaceful garden space, the labyrinth provides an ideal environment for meditation, prayer, and quiet contemplation.
Finger Labyrinth: A Path for All
For those who prefer to stay seated or have limited mobility, we offer a small finger labyrinth as an accessible alternative. This hand-held or table-top version allows you to trace the path with your finger, inviting the same focus, stillness, and meditative experience as walking the full-sized labyrinth.
Whether you are seeking reflection, prayer, or simply a moment of calm, the finger labyrinth is a beautiful tool to quiet the mind and open the heart—wherever you are on your journey.
Guided Walks & Special Events
In addition to open walk times, we also host facilitated labyrinth experiences led by our certified Labyrinth Facilitators. These guided events offer structure, reflection, and community as you move through the path with intention. Past offerings have included:
- Full Moon Labyrinth Walks
Sacred nighttime walks under the moonlight, enhanced with candlelight, silence, and intention-setting. - Facilitated Meditative Walks
Guided walks with prompts for reflection, prayer, or inner listening. - Seasonal and Themed Events
Including Advent or Lenten labyrinth walks, Earth Day reflections, and more. - World Labyrinth Day
An annual event, World Labyrinth Day is celebrated as a moving meditation for world peace. Participants around the globe are encouraged to “Walk as One at 1” local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy. We are delighted to be a yearly participant.
