Lenten Reflections: Part Two ~ Prayer Hosted online via zoom by Mary & Joseph Retreat Center. “A People of Prayer” Lent calls us to a renewal of our prayer life with traditional seasonal forms of prayer like the Stations of the Cross, which is full of rich Scripture passages to sit with. This pandemic has put us in the longest “Lent,” a two-year season of penance, fasting, and introspection. This session offers suggestions and sharing on what types of prayer can bring us new hope and trust that Easter is indeed coming. Participants will listen to the Scripture of the Day: Matt 7:7-12, share in breakout rooms and experience a different way of praying as a community gathered on ZOOM. Psalm 138 “Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me.”

Mandala Making as a Spiritual Tool

The word mandala is from Sanskrit and means circle. A circle is a symbol of wholeness. Mandala making can be a spiritual tool for centering, healing, meditation, exploration, self-realization and expression. Our workshop will engage the experience of the mandala in a variety of ways including personal reflection, creating themed mandalas, learning more of the universality of mandalas, their presence in history, cultures, and nature. Mandala making has a language of expression with color, shapes, symbols, radiations and a personal mandala can be an instrument for peace, for storytelling, for the revelations of the Divine and more. Come and connect with yourself and the world around you. You may bring your own supplies and notebook, otherwise, all will be provided.

Not what you did… but what was the impact on them! What you did that diminished the quality of their lives? Which of these areas were affected? Physical; Emotional; Mental; Financial; Spiritual 2. What specifically can I do to balance the Justice scale? My change of behavior? My repair of damage? Step 9 ~ Willingness to address the damage to complete he Forgiveness Process: How do I prepare properly? How do I make amends to people I can’t find? How do I make effective amends to people I should not contact? or who don’t want contact with me? How do I make amends to dead people? What is the “Forgiveness Process”?

Join these two pioneers in learning about emotional sobriety and how it can help you take the next step in your recovery. Honestly ask yourself:· Am I restless, irritable and discontent?· Do I have a healthy and happy life?· Do I have balance, especially in my relationships? Human development evolves through stages: Stage I: Realization of need for change. In most people, a result of suffering! Stage II: Improving healthy relationships with ourself & others. In preparation for Holy Week and the end of the Lenten journey the teams from the retreat centers will pray the Stations of the Cross and then review and discuss the input and wisdom gathered during the journey together on the program.

Along the Way Pilgrim Walk

Join Mary & Joseph Retreat Center for the fifth annual Pilgrim Walk, a 4.8 mile walk through the streets and trails of Palos Verdes to the sacred grounds of the retreat center. As pilgrims, walkers will be blessed, walk to various stations for reflection and to have passports stamped. Modeled after the famous pilgrimage, “the Way”, to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, this half day walk is adapted to our own time and neighborhood. All ages and faiths welcome. All activities will be outdoors. Schedule: 7 am registration opens, 7:30 blessing of all pilgrims, first groups depart, walk in a calm meditative way, 11:30: closing prayer and grace, picnic lunch at noon.

The 12 Traditions, approved in 1950, established Principles for behavior within each group as well as between all groups. Many individuals have found these guidelines useful in their personal lives and relationships with others.
