Centering Prayer Group Practice
Centering Prayer Group Practice
Centering Prayer is a practice to foster our relationship with God. It is a movement beyond conversation to communion and union with God. It prepares us for the gift of contemplation. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer or meditation; rather it casts new light and depth of meaning on all of the various ways we open ourselves to new levels of consciousness. Gather with us to practice. ALL are welcome to join in this experience. Greg Johnson is a lay contemplative and computer scientist by profession. He has been active in contemplative practice for over 30 years. Herb Kaighan is a retired professional who has been on a spiritual path since his youth. He leads workshops & retreats and is a trained spiritual director. He has authored 4 books on spiritual awakening & meditation.
Lent 2024 People of the Passion
Lent 2024 People of the Passion
Please join us each Thursday evening this Lent, beginning on February 15 and culminating on March 21, 2024, via Zoom for a series of reflection and prayer experiences presented online by the Los Angeles Retreat Center Community (LARCC). Each of our six weekly Lenten spiritual journey presentations will focus on the book People of the Passion. Drawing from the book, as well as the four Gospel accounts of the suffering and death of Jesus, we will experience the passion from the perspective of selected characters who participated – or were affected – in some dramatic way by their encounter with Jesus during that time. Some characters may be well known and involved throughout the passion; others may be lesser known and involved only for a short interval. Nevertheless, suffering and distress seem to bring out the best and the worst in human nature – with crisis responses including courage, trust, generosity, weakness, greed, and despair.
Grateful Gatherings
Grateful Gatherings
The Power of Living Gratefully ~ Experience, deepen, and share the power of living gratefully. Bring gratitude to life… We hold grateful living as an engaged mindfulness practice, grounded in both wisdom and science, which supports our ability to see the wonder and opportunity in every moment, and motivates us to act boldly with love, generosity, and respect towards one another, ourselves, and the Earth. Our Grateful Gatherings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month in 2024. Gatherings will be in person at Mary & Joseph Retreat Center (check kiosk upon arrival for meeting room) and by Zoom.
