A Special thank you to our event sponsor:
Mary & Joseph Retreat Center reached its 60th anniversary in November 2023. Throughout this 2024 jubilee year, we have chosen Reflect, Rest, Renew as our guiding prayer and theme, contemplating MJRC’s fruitful past, vibrant, present, and optimistic future for our ministry and community. From our combined experiences, we know that open hearts, listening ears, and watchful eyes all lead to MJRC (Sr. Catherine Sullivan, DMJ).
In a spirit of thanksgiving and continued hope for the future, we invite you to join us on Sunday, November 3, to celebrate Mass at 4:30 p.m., enjoy a reception and dinner presentation beginning at 5:30 p.m, and gain insights for an amazing life through the unity of body, mind and spirit. Fr. Roy Pereira, S.J., Ph.D., will preside at the liturgy and use his gifts of music, Ignatian spirituality, and expertise in the field of neuroscience; he will continue his presentation after dinner. Fr. Roy will share scientific insights, strategies for behavior change, and techniques for spiritual rejuvenation – along with beautiful piano music and vocals. This experience can improve your wellness, enhance your attitude for living fully, and help you find hope and joy in uncertain times.
Fr. Roy Pereira, S.J., Ph.D. combines 25 years as a Jesuit Priest sharing the Good News and Ignatian spirituality to audiences worldwide, his research in neuroscience and unique ability to explain both complex science and scripture in ways that people can relate, and his God-given musical talent, to encourage physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. He is an author (Uncertain Times: Wellness Strategies from Neuroscience and Ignatius; Finding Hope in Spite of…Insights for an Amazing Life; Finding Joy in Spite of…Insights for an Amazing Life; Uniting Mind, Body, and Spirit: Science and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius); he has presented to audiences around the world, including Google Headquarters, multiple universities and churches, and a Tedx talk. Fr. Roy also teaches Neuroscience at Loyola Marymount University and is a senior staff member focused on mental health, recovery, and wellness on campus.
